Job description

Founding Business Developer - Telco Location Data

We are looking for a Founding Business Developer to join our team at Luzmo, a company dedicated to building the operating system for telcos to run their location-data business on. This is not just a dashboard tool or a BI platform, but an end-to-end system that transforms anonymized network location signals into a marketable, billable data product.

The ideal candidate will have a strong network within European operators or the ability to effectively engage with key stakeholders in the industry. This role is not about managing a pipeline but about creating your own stakeholder map, crafting outreach strategies, and leading meetings independently. You will collaborate closely with a founder and an engineer, influencing our product-market fit, commercial packaging, and pricing models right from the start.

What You'll Do (Months 1–6)

  • Month 1: Develop a comprehensive stakeholder map of a selected Telco operator.

  • Months 2–3: Identify and prioritize 15–25 target operators across Benelux, UK, and France, with planned meetings.

  • Month 3: Participate in Connected Britain event and secure meaningful conversations.

  • Months 3–4: Engage with a second design partner and attend Network X event in Vienna.

  • Month 5: Lead discussions on licensing and access-tiering pilot with a partner.

  • Month 6: Progress with a second design partner or provide insights on the decision-making process.

Interview Process

  1. Screening call (30 min)

  2. Founder interview (60 min)

  3. Written business case & debrief (1-page stakeholder mapping & outreach plan)

  4. Reference calls (≥2)

About Luzmo: Luzmo, founded in 2015, is a pioneer in embedded analytics platforms. We are now venturing into the realm of telco location-data monetization, offering a solution that streamlines the process for operators to launch lucrative data businesses quickly and efficiently.

Location: Leuven, Belgium. On-site presence required 2 days/week, with flexibility based on location and agreement.

How to Apply

To apply, please submit your CV along with a brief note (max 200 words) detailing: (1) your operator network, (2) a telco deal you have facilitated, and (3) your motivation for joining this project.

We are dedicated to fostering diversity within our team and encourage individuals from all backgrounds to apply.

Job requirements

  • Operator network: You can map out the key stakeholders (data, product, privacy) across at least 2 European operators from memory or existing relationships (≥ 10 people with function and your experience or relation to them) (Proximus, Orange BE, Telenet, KPN, DT, Telefónica, BT/EE, Vodafone UK, Orange FR, Bouygues, SFR, Swisscom, A1 Austria, or similar tier-1 operators), Telco deal track record: You have personally managed at least one telecom deal or SOW ≥€100k, from first meeting to signature. You were involved in the procurement, security/vendor review, and privacy/DPIA sign-off process. 5–15 years experience, of which ≥3 years continuous telco-facing work. This includes: telco/TMT practice consultant, Business Development or account role at a telco software vendor, product/strategy/partnerships inside an operator, or SI delivering to operators.

  • Fluent in English. Dutch or French language skills.

  • Domain learning speed: You absorb complex domain concepts quickly and comfortably. Prior background in location data isn't required, but the ability to digest technical infrastructure, like anonymization standards, privacy compliance, and telecommunications data feeds, and translate it into clear B2B value is essential. (We provide a strategy brief ahead of Round 2 to see how you synthesize and present these concepts in your own words.) .

  • Expected travel: ~2 travel days per month, plus 3–4 industry events per year.

  • No non-compete or non-solicit clause restricting contact with European operators.

  • Previous experience selling data products, analytics, or BI into an operator (not network, hardware, BSS/OSS, or connectivity).

  • Experience inside or alongside a telco data-monetization unit (e.g., Orange Flux Vision, Proximus Analytics, Telefónica LUCA, DT Motionlogic, Vodafone Analytics).

  • Prior experience at a company under 50 people, or a track record of operating ‘boots on the ground”, without sales support.
